Teaching of Supplementary

Standard : VIII

Topic : A Hunter Turned Naturalist

Theme :” The conflict between the necessity of hunting dangerous animals and the importance of
wildlife preservation and conservation..”




Learning Outcomes:
E-801; Responds to different kinds of instructions in varied contexts.
E-806: Engages in conversation with family and friends. Encourage students to practice two minutes  speech.

Competency

Introduction:
• Where do tigers live?
• What do tigers eat?
• Tigers are the largest wild cats in the world.
• Tigers are solitary hunters, and generally search for food alone at night.

Guided Reading:
The teacher reads the Supplementary with proper stress, pause, and intonation. Students listen
silently at the first time. Second time they repeat after the teacher. They read in small groups.

Teacher’s activity:
Before explaining this supplementary, the teacher also explains the new words with the help of
chart.
The teacher explains the lesson in simple words through video. And actions.

Student’s activity:
Choose a favourite part of the supplementary and have students role-play it. Volunteer students to
briefly explain the content explained by the teacher in front of other students.



Consolidation and Presentation: (Write in Hints mode)
• Jim Corbett, a renowned photographer, hunter, tracker, naturalist, and writer, was tasked with
hunting down the Champawat Tigress, responsible for a staggering number of deaths in Nepal and
the Kumaon region of India.
• Despite her intelligence and ability to elude hunters, the tigress terrorized villages, forcing people
to fearfully remain indoors, unable to collect essential resources from the forest.


Reinforcement:
• Tigers are a type of animal called a wildcat. Wildcats are in the same family as regular pet
cats, but they live in the wild and are much bigger than pet cats. They can be up to 9 feet long!
• Students will collect information about Tigion , Lioger then discuss about the strength and
weakness of them.

Evaluation:
LOT:
• What were the ethical dilemmas faced by Jim Corbett in his role as a hunter turned
naturalist?
• How did Jim Corbett's approach to hunting man-eaters differ from his stance on game
hunting and deforestation?
MOT:
• What factors contributed to the notoriety and danger of the Champawat Tigress?
• In what ways did Jim Corbett's expertise as a tracker and naturalist assist him in hunting
down the tigress?
HOT:
• What broader implications did the case of the Champawat Tigress have for wildlife
conservation and the preservation of natural habitats?
• How did Jim Corbett's advocacy work, such as promoting the preservation of wildlife and
establishing protected areas, contribute to his legacy beyond his hunting achievements?

Remedial Teaching:
The teacher gives oral drills, reading practice for the late bloomers. They use the internet
source to enrich their skills.

Writing:
They write the writing practice by follow the teacher. They write the book back
exercises...Arrange the words according to their degrees of meaning ...
